Authorization request use cases
This page describes two ways of using authorization requests and submitting them to the end customer for approval. For more information on authorization requests and creating them, please see the version documentation.
Use case 1: The customer logs onto the Authorization Service and accepts the authorization request
A party may use authorization requests by creating an authorization request and specifying the recipient’s email address for the request (either the customer themselves or their proxy). In this case, Datahub sends the specified recipient an email about the authorization request.
An authorization request may also be created without triggering an email. If no recipient information is supplied for the authorization request when creating it, the customer is not emailed any information about the authorization request.
Content of email sent by Datahub:
Authorization request concerning your electricity metering point
Dear electricity agreement party or contact person,
there is a new authorization request for you in the Datahub authorization service.
Oy Sähkö Ab is asking you to grant it access to data related to your electricity metering point. It has made this request because of electricity consumption monitoring, a new electricity agreement, demand response and/or other energy services.
Datahub is an information exchange system which maintains data on all electricity metering points in Finland. Datahub transmits this information between electricity suppliers, grid operators, and energy service providers.
The Datahub authorization service is online at datahub.fi/authorize. Log on to the service using Suomi.fi authentication. In the authorization service, you can approve or reject authorization requests addressed to you. This request is valid until 1 May 2025. If you need more information, please contact the company which sent the request.
Oy Sähkö Ab has sent you the following message: Sopimuksen mukaan käythän hyväksymässä lähettämäni valtuutuspyynnön Datahubin valtuutuspalvelussa niin saamme energiaseurantapalvelun käynnistettyä. / In line with your contract, please log onto the Datahub Authorization Service to accept the authorization request I have sent. That will allow us to start our energy monitoring service.
Best wishes,
Fingrid Datahub
NB! For data security reasons, the email does not contain a direct link to the Authorization Service.
The email also has the same content in Finnish and Swedish.
The customer logs onto the Authorization Service, where they see a pending authorization request, which they can accept or deny.
Use case process description in the version documentation.
Use case 2: The customer is redirected from a party’s service to the Authorization Service to accept a new authorization request
An authorization request can also be created and accepted as part of a service provider’s digital service. The service provider’s service redirects the customer to the Authorization Service to approve the authorization request created in the background. In this case, the Authorization Service shows the user the pending request, and when the user accepts it, the Authorization Service redirects the customer back to a predetermined return URL.
If the request is for a large number of electricity locations, note that in the service provider’s implementation, creating authorizations in Datahub may take some time after the user has been redirected from the Authorization Service back to the service provider’s service.
