What the Datahub Authorization Service is and who uses it

The Datahub Authorization Service, to be launched simultaneously with Datahub version 2.6, is a service provided by Fingrid Datahub Oy for managing end-customer authorizations. The service offers end customers a user interface (UI) where they can grant, review and manage their authorizations to Datahub parties.

Process changes

The Datahub Authorization Service and the use of authorization requests will replace both authorizations notified by the parties themselves (process DH-810) and authorizations notified by customers themselves in the end-customer portal.

When version 2.6 is deployed, the use of DH-810 events will be terminated.

The customer creates an authorization for a party in the end-customer portal.

The customer creates an authorization in the Datahub Authorization Service.

A party notifies about an authorization received from its business customer directly to Datahub using a DH-810 message, or creates an authorization in the CMS user interface.

The party creates an authorization request for its end customer using a DH-830 message or in the CMS user interface.

The authorization itself is created in Datahub when the end customer accepts the authorization request in the Datahub Authorization Service.

The Datahub Authorization Service has been developed and is being launched because of both statutory demands and industry needs.

The European Commission’s Implementing Regulation 2023/1162 requires changes to the Datahub authorization model. In addition, the industry has identified the need for an authorization solution that enables a scalable authorization process, particularly for large customer portfolios, supports integration with parties’ own services, and improves authorization management and maintenance.
